I have a particular passion for postnatal care and ensuring that you have the support and advice you need, when you need it, from someone who knows you. Becoming a mother is one of the most life changing things you can go through, so I believe women need the support and care that reflects this. My postnatal care is completely holistic, the care and support I provide includes looking after your emotional, psychological and physical health and recovery as well as ensuring baby is feeding well and gaining weight.
My postnatal care can be anything from a one off visit as a top up to your NHS care (£150), up to a 6 weeks full postnatal care package (£2,000).
With all of my postnatal packages (not including one off appointments), a booking appointment is made during the third trimester, allowing you time to get to know me before your baby’s arrival. I will visit you at home and discuss a variety of topics including:
- Preparing for labour and birth
- Understanding your choices
- Helping you create a birth plan/preferences
- Bonding with your baby
- Planning for the postnatal period
- Feeding support
- Setting realistic expectations
- Normal newborn behaviour
- Where to access additional support or advice
All packages include frequent visits in the first week, daily if needed, then gradually reduce over the course of your care. The visits generally last 1-2 hours, but are entirely personalised depending on your needs.
I will weigh your baby, usually on day 3, 5 and 10 if all is well, followed by weekly weight (on request) if you have a 4 or 6 week package. Weight gain is a key indicator of how well feeding is going and so I am able to put a feeding plan in place with you if needed and support you throughout this.
I will be available to you 24/7 throughout the postnatal period.
I can also complete the day 5 newborn blood spot screening
